A New Boost for Stand Up Paddle in Europe

The European SUP League (ESL) is launched as the first official Stand Up Paddle circuit sanctioned by the European Surfing Federation. Its creation marks a milestone in the professionalization and visibility of SUP in Europe, offering a high-level competitive platform with global media impact.

More than just a series of competitions, the ESL is an initiative to unite the European Stand Up Paddle community, providing opportunities for athletes of all levels and promoting a sustainable and environmentally responsible practice.

The Circuit

Circuit Structure

The ESL 2025 will take place in two phases with events in different European countries:

First Phase (Spain)

  • April 26-27: Battle For Hercules – Benalmádena (Málaga)
  • May 1-4: Triple S Festival – Melilla
  • May 16-18: World SUP Festival – Santa Pola (Alicante)

Second Phase (September – October)

  • Events in Portugal (Sesimbra, September) and Italy «(October – venue to be determined) ».

Each stage will feature top-level organization, ensuring an exceptional experience for both competitors and spectators.

The year 2025 will be key in laying the foundations of this circuit, with an inaugural edition that will mark a turning point in the world of paddle surfing.

Looking ahead, the ESL aims to expand its calendar, incorporate more locations, and ensure sustainable growth for SUP in Europe.

The European SUP League encourages participation from athletes of all levels and ages, promoting diversity and the growth of the sport across Europe.

Each event will award the same points regardless of prize money distribution for men and women, ensuring fair competition. Additionally, the overall male and female champions will receive the prestigious recognition of the European Surfing Federation as European Champions, along with a cash prize from the circuit ranking.

With an open format, the league offers opportunities for both professionals competing for the European title and newcomers discovering the magic of paddle surfing.
